Academic Year

Curriculum
During the academic year, HARID's curriculum provides a comprehensive dance education focusing primarily on classical ballet. Four years of study are offered and courses include ballet, pas de deux (partenering), variations, men's virtuoso technique, repertoire, character dance, modern dance, Spanish dance, jazz dance, An Introduction to Ballet Pedagogy, Pilates, music studies, dance history, nutrition, and kinesiology.

During the first week of classes in August, each student is assessed and placed in an appropriate ballet class according to his or her age and ability. Placement in other courses is dependent upon the student's prior education and academic grade level.

Performance Opportunities
The experience of performing on stage before an audience is an integral part of every dancer's professional training. HARID presents two series of student performances annually (at the end of each academic semester) at the new 800-seat Countess de Hoernle Theater in Boca Raton.

HARID dancers are known and respected for the strength and clarity of their classical technique. They are also recognized, however, for their versility and quickness at learning and retaining choreography. These invaluable assets are developed through the regular inclusion of neo-classical, contemporary, and modern works in the school's repertoire.

Fees
All students receive full-tuition scholarships which cover the costs of academic, dance, and other classes; selected cultural and educational field trips; and transportation relating to the above activities. Fees are charged for room and board, dance clothing, and supplies. Financial aid is available to qualified students.

Graduation Requirements
The Harid Conservatory is recognized as a high school by the State of Florida. Students receive credits toward a high school diploma for academic courses completed at Spanish River Community High School and for fine arts and other courses completed at HARID.

Students are required to earn twenty-four (24) credits in grades 9-12 in order to graduate. They must also successfully complete the Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test, and the Computer Literacy Test. Students who complete their senior year at The Harid Conservatory and Spanish River Community High School, and meet the requirements for graduation, receive a high school diploma.

Spanish River Community High School is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.
